That is a question I often ask myself as a mom of 5 kids ;)
My name is Liesbeth and I am 40 years old. I live in a nice little town near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. I am low key married (partnership) with the love of my life Nick And my children are 6,8,14,17 and 18 years old.
Besides this hobby that got out of hand (soakfairy) I have a consultancy & coaching business with my husband that keeps me busy.
In daily life I have some challenges concerning my health hence my 2000 hobbies to keep me distracted. I have a condition called EDS and POTS (And some other things but I’d hate to write a book about it) This makes my world a little small sometimes as I struggle with going places when I have flareups.
I also make music that you can find on spotify under the name Ylisia (or my previous band Eve’s Fall).
Feel free to ask me anything :)
As a mother myself I know small babies are hard work. Laundry is overwhelming enough as it is so handwashing your wraps can be something that gets easily forgotten or put at last on your to do list.
When starting Soakfairy my idea was to give those special wraps and carriers their shine back and also make sure that small pulls don’t become big pulls or worse. This was my biggest nightmare when I started my babywearing yourney 9 years ago.
I like to give you a warm and nice experience, your wraps are in good hands with me. And to be honest, you are buying these wraps for your baby to enjoy moments close and keep them with you as long as possible. But when do you do something for you? This process of handwashing and staring at a wrap in bright light to fix pulls or defuzz them by hand is a lot of work and you have plenty allready!
So enjoy and just wait for your wrap to return home in excellent condition! Do this for yourself! You deserve it!
As someone who likes to hyperfocus and turn everything inside out to know everything about something it is the holy grail to find something you don’t get bored of because it is a true passion.
With a seamstress as mother and a father that was a highly skilled carpenter having many hobbies such as upholstering furniture I think craftmanship runs through my vains and I gained a lot of knowledge on woven fabrics.
I myself worked in the field of pestcontrol for 2 years where I took courses on critters and learned a lot of things I wish I never learnt as this unlocked a serious new fear when it comes to keeping my woolies & silks safe.
Besides just washing a lot of wraps (as I owned close to 500 wraps myself that I ALWAYS froze & washed before use) I also gained a lot of knowledge on delicate materials because my now 19 year old daughter basically could not keep herself warm so we always used a lot of woolen items.
Some of you might remember me as a spokesperson for bybauk (custom carriers) where I handled the customercare for a while. I think my feedback (tinyurl.com/theSerialchurner / tinyurl.com/retiredserialchurner ) will show I am known in the babywearing community and you can trust me with the goods 🥰
I work from home and wash your items in my kitchen by hand.
I do have pets and kids but I exclusively work on your items when I have the space for myself and the pets do not come near my office. I find this work very therapeutical, so I only do this when I am by myself with my headphones and a pot of coffee ☕️
